Wireless Voicemail

Whether you're in a meeting or on the other line, GTA Voicemail offers several options to help you stay connected when you're unavailable. Use our voicemail system to greet your callers, take messages, and alert you when you have a new message waiting.

GTA provides the following voicemail options:

Basic Voicemail

  • Basic Voicemail provides essential voicemail services, including a customized greeting, message forwarding, and storage.
  • Just press and hold 1 on your device to access your voice mailbox and manage your messages.
  • Basic Voicemail is included with all of our calling plans at no additional charge. Standard airtime charges apply.

Visual Voicemail

  • Visual Voicemail delivers everything our Basic Voicemail service does, plus the added flexibility of having your voicemail messages delivered right to your device in an email-like inbox.
  • The visual message list display lets you listen to your messages in any order you choose.
  • Visual Voicemail is free and available for iPhone devices.

Visual Voicemail

With GTA Visual Voicemail, you can see a list of the messages in your voice mailbox and select which ones you wish to play or delete, in whichever order you choose - right from the voicemail screen on your wireless phone.

Visual Voicemail lists your voicemail messages by date and time and displays relevant information like caller name and callback number.

With Visual Voicemail on your iPhone you can:

  • Listen to your messages in any order you choose.
  • Quickly get to your most important messages first.
  • Save important numbers directly to your device contacts list.
  • Respond to messages by call back, text message, or email
  • Share messages by forwarding them in emails
  • Save messages to your device's internal memory or memory card (Android only).
  • Easily retrieve deleted messages
  • Set up greetings

GTA Visual Voicemail for iPhone

GTA Visual Voicemail messages are delivered directly to your iPhone. You can store up to 25 Visual Voicemail messages, at a maximum length of three minutes per message, on your iPhone. Messages are stored for 30 days.

Setting up Visual Voicemail for iPhone

  • From the Home screen, tap Phone.
  • Tap the Voicemail icon.
  • To setup voicemail, tap Setup Now.
  • Enter a 4 digit password and Tap Done.
  • Re-enter the 4 digit password and tap Done again.
  • Device prompts to either keep the default greeting (mobile number) or specify a custom greeting.
  • To setup a custom greeting, tap Custom.
  • Tap the Record icon and begin recording the greeting.
  • Tap Stop when finished.
  • Tap Play to review the greeting.
  • Tap Save to save the greeting.
  • The mailbox is now setup to receive new messages.

Access your Basic voicemail from your wireless phone

  1. Access your voicemail from your feature phone
    • From the keypad, tap the voicemail icon or press and hold the 1 key.
    • If prompted, enter your voicemail password.
  2. Access voicemail from your smartphone
    • From the home screen, tap the Phone icon.
    • From the Phone or Dialer tab, tap the Voicemail icon, or tap and hold the 1 key.
    • If prompted, enter your voicemail password.
  3. Access your voicemail from another phone
    • Place a call to the wireless number, and do not answer.
    • Interrupt the greeting by pressing the * key.
    • When prompted, enter your voicemail password.
  4. Access your voicemail when traveling internationally
    When traveling internationally, you can check your voicemail from your wireless phone or another phone by following the steps above.
    • Before traveling, verify your device will work where you need it.
    • Calls to voicemail are charged the same international roaming fees as for any voice call.
    • If you have trouble checking or managing your messages while out of the country, call GTA at 644-4482 for assistance.
  5. Play and manage messages
    Once you're connected to your voicemail, press the 1 key for "Listen to messages". While playing a message, the following controls are available:
    • Press 1 to save
    • Press 2 to delete
    • Press 3 to skip
    • Press 4 to listen again
    • Press # for more options
      • Press 1 to Return the Call
      • Press 3 to Forward the Call
      • Press 5 to Message Time Stamp
      • Press 6 to Message Envelope
  6. Customize voicemail settings
    Once you're connected to your voicemail, press the 1 key for "Listen to messages". While playing a message, the following controls are available:
    • Once you're connected to your voicemail, press the 4 key for "Personal Options".
    • Press 2 to change your password, adjust the date and time, and other options.
    • Press 3 to change your voicemail message or greeting type.

Visual Voicemail

On iPhone, visual voicemail lets you see a list of your messages and choose which ones to listen to or delete, without having to listen to instructions or prior messages.

Checking Voicemail

When you tap Phone, iPhone shows the number of missed calls and unheard voicemail messages.

Listen to a voicemail message

From the Home screen, tap Phone . Tap Voicemail, and then tap a message.
NOTE: If you've already heard the message, tap the message again to replay it.

  • Listen to a message: Tap the message. (If you've already heard the message, tap the message again to replay it.) Use and to pause and resume playback.
  • Check voicemail from another phone: Dial your own number.
  • Deleting Messages: Select a message, then tap Delete.
  • Listen to a deleted message: Tap Deleted Messages (at the end of the list), then tap the message.
  • Undelete a message: Tap Deleted Messages (at the end of the list), then tap the message and tap Undelete.

Important Note
Data and messaging used in replying to and forwarding voicemail messages via messaging or email are counted against your data and/or messaging plan, and applicable charges apply if data and/or messaging plan limits are exceeded. International voice, data, and messaging charges apply to receiving, replying to, and forwarding voicemail messages while roaming internationally.

FAQs FOR VOICEMAIL UPGRADE

  • What is Early Voicemail Set-Up?

    588-0000 has been set up as temporary number to allow voicemail users to set-up their PIN and customize their voicemail greeting prior to the migration on August 1st. It also gives users an opportunity to familiarize themselves with the new Interactive Voice Response system. To retrieve voicemail messages, you will still dial 488-0000.

  • What will change when GTA transfers to the new Voicemail Platform on August 1st?

    • Your voicemail will be migrated to the new voicemail platform. Unless you changed your PIN and Greeting during the Early Set - Up Period (07/16 - 07/31) you will be prompted to set up a new PIN and Voicemail Greeting.
    • View and manage your voicemail message via the online voicemail web-portal, www.vm.gta.net
    • Wireless Visual Voicemail will be available for iPhone and Android users.
  • Will my messages in my mailbox be accessible in the new voicemail platform?

    Yes. Any heard or unheard messages from the previous voicemail system will be accessible in the new system but messages will be deleted 30 days from their original date of receipt. To ensure you do not lose any important messages, we highly encourage you to save a copy of any messages. To retrieve your old voicemail messages, dial 488-0000.

  • On August 1st, what is the Voicemail Access Number?

    The Voicemail access number is 488-0000

  • What will happen if I do not change my greeting by August 1st?

    If I elect not to do the early set-up, the system will use the default greeting until you have customized your personal greeting.

  • How do I get Visual Voicemail?

    On August 1st, Visual Voicemail will be available for Free on iPhone devices. iPhone users will need to download the latest iOS software. More information will be available online on August 1st.
