It's important to note that speeds can be affected by external factors such as overseas networks, environmental factors, and the location of the server you're connected to.
For Wireless Home Internet, factors such as the distance you are from a cell tower, the network capability, and the overall use of that cell tower by other consumers can impact the speed experienced.
WiFi will almost always be slower than if you're connecting via an ethernet cable. There are a few reasons for this:
- Distance from the modem
- The number of devices using the same network
- The WiFi bands
- WiFi interference and obstacles
- Your devices
Check My Internet Speed
For the most accurate speed test result, be sure no one else is using the internet when you do the speed test.
If you have Prism Wi-Fi powered by Plume HomePass:
1. Open the HomePass App on your mobile device.
2. Scroll to the Adapt section on the home page of the App.
3. Tap on Check Speed. This will start a speed test of your ethernet wired gateway pod and provide you with the latest results.
4. Tapping on View all opens a new page with the speed test results for the last 30 days.
Testing from a computer:
1. Run the test with the computer plugged directly into the modem using Ethernet, do not run the test over Wi-Fi.
2. Only use the test site at http://speedtest.teleguam.net/ to run your test.
3. Once at the test site, choose the GTA Tamuning server to test against.
