Monday, February 26, 2018- More than a third of GTA's workforce took time off from their usual work schedules to collect trash and sort out recyclable goods at Tanguisson Beach in Dededo on Sunday morning in support of the local company's new corporate social responsibility platform, Team Up For Good.
Team Up For Good highlights GTA's renewed mission of inspiring the island community in everything we do. The recent beach clean-up over the weekend is one of several efforts to help build strong and vibrant communities by preserving the environment.
"We take pride in participating in activities and events that help benefit our villages, non-profit organizations, colleagues and customers." says Kamia Dierking, GTA Director of Marketing and Communications. Through small acts, we are all inspired and empowered to make a difference in the lives of others.
GTA partnered with Peggy Denney of iRecycle in the initiative aimed to highlight the importance of combating all forms of pollution and maintain the cleanliness of our beaches. "It is vital that companies like GTA play a part in protecting our environment. Events like this help raise awareness of the impact of marine litter and the importance of doing all we can to tackle it so that beaches like Tanguisson can continue to be enjoyed by all," says Denney.
Sheila Blas, GTA employee, (Customer Care), says it feels extremely rewarding to contribute to a greater good. "Working for a company like GTA that encourages us to give back to causes we care about is truly incredible. Not only is this personally rewarding, but we have a chance to bond with our fellow coworkers in a non-work environment."
Volunteers removed nearly 300 bags of trash and recyclable goods including tires, plastic bottles and bags, food wrappers, cigarette butts, and white goods.
