Thursday, March 8, 2018 - Each year, on March 8th, the world celebrates International Women's Day to recognize the social, economic, cultural, and political achievements of women and examines what needs to be done to achieve gender equality across the world.
Today, GTA joins the movement for gender equality in the workplace, offering our commitment to respect and fulfill women's rights and advance their aspirations. This year's theme for International Women's Day is #PressforProgress, which marks a call to action for accelerating gender parity in business.
GTA currently employs 172 women making up approximately 37% of the company's workforce. Rose Ayuyu Morales, GTA Vice President of Human Resources, says, "GTA continuously works to build a more diverse, vibrant and resilient workforce. We recognize that female participation, and diversity in general, is valuable from a business perspective. Throughout the years, we have been successful in increasing the number of women in leadership positions and continue to improve the percentage of women working throughout our company."
"Celebrating International Women's Day is an opportunity to recognize our employees' successes and to continue discussions on gender equality," says Kamia Dierking, Director of Marketing and Communications at GTA. "At GTA, we are proud to support and empower women who play extraordinary roles within the company, with customers, and in their community. We want to share our passion to make a difference where we live."
To mark International Women's Day and Women's History Month, GTA's social media channels will be highlighting and sharing stories of just some of the inspiring women in our workplace who demonstrate leadership, professional excellence, and dedication to progress of women in technology and professional careers. The company's vision to inspire goes hand in hand with its pledge to press for progress and drive toward gender equality.
Dierking adds, "GTA remains committed to pressing for progress by empowering women to achieve their full potential. We continue to be advocates for women who continuously break down barriers. Back in 2015, our company launched its Project Rise Campaign, aimed to raise awareness about sexual assault and family violence and continues to support local organizations committed to supporting victims. Through education, conversation and opportunities, we hope to inspire others to do the same."
