Snowy Screen: A snowy screen could be caused by a few items. 1) TV Input – verify that the TV is set to channels 3 or 4, whichever applies to your specific brand and model. 2) Loose coaxial cable - if your setup includes coaxial cable, ensure that each end of the cable is secured tightly. 3) Loose HPNA - if your setup includes an HPNA adapter, ensure that all cables connected to it are secured tightly at each end. |

Black Screen: A black screen indicates a reception problem. If you have multiple Set-Top Boxes and all have black screens or if you have only 1 Set-Top Box, reboot the modem. Altogether, this takes approximately 2 minutes. Turn off the power by depressing the On/Off button at the back of the modem. After approximately 10 seconds, turn the modem's power back on by pressing the On/Off button once more. You will see the lights on the front start to flicker and then eventually stabilize. You should see all lights turn to a yellowish green color. If any of the lights become red in color, please contact GTA at 644-4482 for further assistance. If you have multiple Set-Top Boxes and only 1 of them has the black screen, reboot that Set-Top Box. Disconnect the Power cord from the back of the box. Note: Don't confuse the power cord that provides electricity to your Set-Top Box with the Ethernet cable that is connected to the back of your Set-Top Box. Unplugging the Ethernet cable will not reset your Set-Top Box. Since many issues can occur if your Ethernet cable is not securely fastened, now would be a good time to check to ensure all connections are securely connected. After approximately 10 seconds, connect the Power cord back into its proper position which is labeled "Power". This step takes approximately 10 minutes. (*Note: the length of this step may be longer for STB's that have not been rebooted for a while.) Wait several minutes while the software updates as noted with spinning pinwheel on your TV screen. Check to see if this resolves the trouble. If you still have the problem, your Set-Top Box may need to be re-initialized. Contact GTA at 644-4GTA for Technical Support assistance. |
