GTA TeleGuam Principal Owners Respond to Guam Governor Call for Executive Terminations
Controversy is over broadband stimulus funding for Guam
BURBANK, Calif. – (April 20, 2010) – GTA TeleGuam’s principal owner, Shamrock Capital Advisors, based in Burbank, Calif., issued the following statement in response to Guam Governor Felix P. Camacho’s call for the terminations of GTA TeleGuam CEO Dan Moffat and Daniel J. Tydingco, executive vice president of external affairs for questioning broadband stimulus funding for Guam.
The statement can be attributed to William J. Wynperle, managing director of Shamrock.
“Shamrock Capital Advisors stands firmly committed to its investment in GTA TeleGuam, which it privatized five years ago from the Government of Guam. We are proud of and confident in the management team and all employees on Guam for their commitment to innovate and improve service.
“Shamrock has invested about $75 million over the last five years as part of the successful privatization led by Gov. Camacho. Today, Guam has one of the most extensive communications infrastructures in the United States and broadband availability is among the highest in the country.
“Five years ago, we entered the Guam market with plans to enhance the level of communications provided on the island. We have invested significantly to expand our breadth of services and provide the latest technology available to our customers including broadband, smartphones and video. Our team has performed well and we have utilized our own resources to provide our high- capacity networks that are already capable of providing high speed broadband services.”
