GTA TeleGuam Expands Japan’s NHK Television Offerings on GUdTV
NHK World channels now available in high definition, dual language track on GUdTV
TAMUNING, Guam – (Feb. 1, 2010) – GTA TeleGuam today announced it has expanded its GUdTV programming to include Japan’s NHK World TV
NHK World provides news from Japan as well as popular Asian lifestyle programming for international viewers. GTA TeleGuam added the NHK World TV high-definition, English language channel at no additional charge to its GUdTV HD tier available for Choice Digital Package subscribers. The new NHK World TV HD channel can be found on channel 461. The NHK World Premium channel with dual language audio tracks in Japanese and English is on channel 230.
GUdTV is short for Guam Digital Television. "Many non Japanese speaking viewers are interested in the secondary audio track on the NHK World Premium channel to watch popular Japanese programs like Japan news and Sumo wrestling with English audio," said Andrew Gayle, executive vice president of GTA TeleGuam wireless and television.
"As more Guam residents purchase HD television sets, they are also asking us to deliver more programs in high definition to fully enjoy the vivid colors, sharpness, and clarity that HD televisions provide over digital." GUdTV is 100 percent digital, based on IP technology.
"GTA TeleGuam will continually expand and grow the GUdTV lineup to include the most and best channels for our customers," Gayle said.
The latest HD channel addition brings to 24 the number of high definition channels available on GUdTV. This is the most high definition channel offering from a single provider on Guam. GUdTV now offers more than 250 video and music channels in its lineup. Customers can select the secondary language track on the NHK World Premium channel through a simple settings change on their GUdTV set-top-box.
Almost 5,000 island residents and businesses have switched to GUdTV in the past 18 months since GTA TeleGuam launched it IPTV
